What's Blooming

July 2014 — Cool-colored Caladiums are popping up everywhere! These tropical plants show their color during the summer and fall months from June to October.

Caladiums make excellent, easy-care bedding plants for full shade to full sun gardens. Caladium bulbs should be planted in about an inch and a half of moist soil to cover the tuber. Space the tubers 2 to 4 inches apart for a full appearance. Be sure not to plant the bulbs too early. Later is better.

Enchanted Walkabouts

Experience an "Enchanted Walkabout" in Mead Garden with John Springer, where you will learn all about...

  • Tree identification;
  • Significance of lichen on the trees;
  • How the Monkey Puzzle Tree got it's name;
  • the night-blooming cereus cactus;
  • the butterfly garden;
  • pine cone ginger and the lotion its fruit produces;
  • how to communicate with the camellias and azaleas to release more fragrance (99 out of a hundred people have this experience);
  • And much, much more!

It is a photographic, sensory and creative journey around the most enchanting park in the southeast. Some day you must join us and see and feel for yourself!

British Car Show

The 26th Annual All British Car Show hosted by 4 local English car clubs (Austin Healey, Jaguar, MG, and Triumph) and organized through the British Car Breakfast Club of Central Florida brought together over 35 British car marques for the public to enjoy free of charge.

Upcoming Volunteer Activities

Spring is here and nature needs some help in Mead Garden. What an extraordinary opportunity to achieve something rare and wonderful right here in Winter Park. And we plan to have some fun in the doing. The effort needs every sort of volunteer support, some ongoing and some just a few hours. Some work indoors, and some stomping around in the woods. Some alone and some with the whole gang.
Here are some upcoming events on the volunteer calendar. Call or email us to join an open group or create your own. We know you can find a niche that fits you.
